Health & Wellbeing Ambassadors

HWA

The Health and Wellbeing Ambassadors (HWA) is a professional development opportunity for students passionate about health and wellbeing.

Working in partnership with the UNSW Health Promotion Unit (HPU), students are given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in real-world projects that make a difference in the health and well-being of UNSW students and the university environment. HWAs work with the HPU to co-design and deliver online and face-to-face health and wellbeing initiatives that are informed by student needs, perspectives and experiences. The program is accredited by UNSW Advantage, and volunteer contribution is recorded on AHEGS statements upon graduation.

Students gain experience in:

  • peer education
  • health advocacy
  • campaign management
  • communications and content creation
  • event management

HWA Structure

HWAs are coordinated by the HWA Central team, which are paid positions and are responsible for coordinating the deliverables for each area of the health portfolio. The Central team positions are AHEGS accredited, and positions are held for one year.
