SHAC Student Ambassador - Roles and Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities 

Specific responsibilities for this role include:  

  • Attend regular SHAC meetings.  
  • Support the Chairperson and complete tasks on time to achieve changes as outlined by the SHAC action plans.  
  • Take initiative to drive change and SHAC goals. 
  • Represent the health and wellbeing needs of UNSW students by organising appropriate focus groups and surveys to ensure the voices of the diverse UNSW community are heard.  
  • Support communication campaigns and develop effective communication strategies and reporting to ensure the whole of the student community feel their voices are being heard.  

Skills and Experience  

  • A passion and understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of students and experience advocating and driving change within a diverse community.  
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse people including other SHAC representatives, professional staff and the student population.  
  • Proven capacity to plan, develop and deliver outcomes.  
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety services at UNSW and commitment to attending relevant training and committee meetings. 

We aim to ensure the members of SHAC represent the diverse community of UNSW and encourage students who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, are international students studying both on and offshore, are members of the LGBTIQ+ community and those living with a disability to apply for these roles.
