Privacy Awareness Week

Published:

UNSW is a proud Privacy Champion.

This Privacy Awareness Week (16-22 June) is all about helping you stay smart about privacy. We'll be sharing quick tips on how to keep your personal information safe and to protect the privacy of yourself and those around you.

What You Should Know

  • Think twice about sharing your personal information with online and AI tools – you will often have no control over how your information will be further used or disclosed, especially when you use free online tools.
  • Respect other people’s privacy – don’t share personal information of others unless you have their express consent to share their information and remember your responsibilities under the Code of Conduct and Values.
  • Keep your passwords safe – never share your passwords with anyone else and change them straight away if you think they’ve been compromised.

Your Privacy Rights

  • UNSW can only use your personal information for the purposes for which we collected it. These purposes are set out in the Student Privacy Statement.
  • You have rights under the law, including the ability to access and request correction of your personal information, if needed.
  • You have review rights if you believe the University has breached your privacy.
