Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is now available to UNSW Science students. WIL offers you the opportunity to do professional work experience related to your major of study and earn course credit for it. WIL courses help you develop your career-readiness skills, build professional networks and provide you with an edge in an increasingly competitive graduate labour market.

It’s perfect for students who want real-world experience and to try out potential career paths before graduating.

WIL can be taken remotely at home or in the workplace (office, laboratory or in the field) across any UNSW teaching term (Term 1, 2, 3 and Summer).

There are two types of WIL:

Placement WIL: is an immersive experience, similar to work experience, where you’re hosted within an organisation external to UNSW. You can secure your own sourced placement or apply to one of many faculty-advertised opportunities. From this, you can gain 6-12 UOC depending on the intensity of the placement.

If you want to learn more about WIL placements, check out this video.

Project WIL: gives you an opportunity to complete a real-world project for an external organisation within a multidisciplinary team of UNSW Science Students. Under the guidance of academic supervisors and industry mentors, students work collaboratively in their teams to deliver outcomes for industry partners – the course SCIF3000 for 6 UOC is offered in Term 3.

This is an approved co-curricular STEM Career Launchpad Activity under the Gold Level Professional Experience badge.
