Microsoft mandated security update

Published:

Why is Microsoft making this change?

Microsoft is upgrading its security systems to better protect organisations from data breaches and unauthorised access. This update will give UNSW greater visibility and control over who can access our files, while also providing stronger authentication for external users. All organisations using Microsoft globally are impacted and are required to adopt this change.

What should you do?

  • Review who you have shared content with through Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams, One Drive and SharePoint, who isn’t a UNSW student.

  • Make a list of who still needs access to files shared after Tuesday 1 July, and notify everyone on that list that their file access will expire on Tuesday 1 July.

  • After Tuesday 1 July, simply re-share all the files as you normally would.

The process remains the same, you will just be creating new links with the latest security.
