Location is an important factor in deciding where to live. UNSW is located in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, southeast of the central business district.

The university is accessible by Public Transport (the light rail) and takes approximately 15 minutes from Central Station.

The demand for housing is high in Sydney, especially in the weeks leading up to the start of term. We recommend allowing 2-4 weeks to secure housing before term begins.

Suburbs closer to university and beaches tend to be more expensive. To understand the Sydney metropolitan area including rental costs and suburb demographics, see the Sydney Moving Guide and links below to compare weekly rents by Sydney suburbs.
