About the program

A Smart City in Higashi-Hiroshima: Solutions to Social Issues.

This workshop, held on-campus at the University of Hiroshima, Japan, aims to deepen students’ understanding of peace and smart cities, giving them the opportunity to learn about best practices and methodologies on how to create human-friendly societies that offer an improved quality of life and services using advanced technologies, more efficient energy, transportation networks, and other infrastructure from the perspective of entrepreneurship.This program will include special lectures by experts in the field through interactive sessions to exchange knowledge and experiences amongst students from the UK, India, Australia, and Japan.


This AGILE workshop is the very first program of its kind to be implemented in 2023 with UNSW and Hiroshima University and is designed for students who are eager to learn and actively interact with students from other international education partners.

Eligibility Requirements

  • 75 WAM minimum average requirement
  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate students enrolled in a UNSW degree

Enrolment Type and Fees

Enrolment Type: Direct Enrolment (Cross-Institutional Studies) OR Not-for-credit. 

This workshop may be eligible for UNSW credit as cross-institutional study, to be negotiated with your faculty. It can also be taken as non-credit bearing, eligible for AHEGS comment.

Fees: No Program Fee. The AGILE Workshop is a subsidized program. There is partial airfare coverage, and student accommodation on-campus is covered by the JASSO Scholarship of 80,000 Yen (Students will be invited to apply for JASSO Scholarship). Meals and living expenses are your own responsibility.

Application Process

If you wish to transfer credit for the program, you must receive approval from your faculty for credit transfer through Cross-Institutional Enrolment
