Each year the Westpac Scholars Trust awards 100 new scholarships to everyday Aussies with the passion and ambition to drive positive change. Valued at over $4 million each year, scholarships are funded by a $100 million gift made by the bank in 2015 in celebration of its 200th anniversary.
In 2023, the scholarship cohort is made up of 71 undergraduate students, 17 postgraduate students, 10 social entrepreneurs and two early-career researchers. 15 per cent of this year's recipients are first in family to complete a university degree, 51 per cent identify as women and three per cent identify as First Nations people.
