UNSW Aviation’s Associate Professor, Brett Molesworth, is researching improvements for drivers’ behaviour in their first six months of driving. Volunteers who have recently got their P-plates needed to take part in this important research.

The primary focus of this research is to use naturalistic driving methods involving instrumentation of participants' own vehicles to track changes in the everyday driving of young novice drivers during these critical first months.

The research study is looking to recruit people who meet the following criteria:

  • Aged 17-20 years
  • Can commence the study within three weeks of obtaining their P-1 license
  • Have their own car
  • Lives in metro Sydney.

Participants will be asked to complete the following research activities:

  • Complete a set of questionnaires
  • Drive their vehicle for four months equipped with sensors that track driving behaviour, and video cameras that capture the road and the driver’s face.

Participants will be reimbursed for their time with a $250 Coles/Myer gift voucher (paid in two instalments).

Please contact Jan Eusebio to register your interest in taking part in this research.
