Thanks to clever marketing and social media, the idea of self-care is often accompanied by aesthetic imagery of yoga by the beach, gym selfies and bath bombs.
However, self-care goes much deeper than these short moments of joy.
Sometimes, our greatest act of self-care isn't always worth bringing up in conversation or sharing on social media, but they make the biggest impact on our long term health and wellbeing.
This Mental Health Month we want you to start the conversation and tell us the ways you replenish, renew and practice self-care by sharing it on your social media and tagging @ungrammable_unsw.
We even have some prizes up for grabs!
How to enter
1. Upload your image of the ungramable self-care you participated in that day and tell us why it's important to your overall health and wellbeing. If you do not want to use your own account to submit you can DM the @ungrammable_unsw account with your image and copy
2. Be sure to use the hashtag #UNSWUngramable and tag @ungrammable_unsw in your image
Note: Your submission must be uploaded by October 31st and make sure your account is public so we can see your submission!
How do we choose our winners?
We have two categories for our winners.
1. Community Choice: The submission with the most engagement
2. Judges Pick: Our panel of judges from the UNSW community will be choosing a winner
The judges will choose their winner based on how well the submission highlights the importance of changing the conversation on self-care from the image chosen, the copy submitted with the image and community interaction.
Note: Please note we will be reposting some of our submissions and tagging the creators Instagram account.
