Current role

FDM Group

Current work activities and projects

My role as a technical trainer involves training graduates in a variety of modules, such as Unix, Object Oriented Design, Java, Spring, and web application development.

Highlights of the role

I enjoy working with a diverse group of talented graduates and find it rewarding that I can play a role in kick starting their careers in technology. It is an industry that is constantly evolving, and I love that this gives me the opportunity to upskill and continue learning.

My biggest career achievement to date would be completing the graduate program and transitioning to a permanent role as a technical trainer. I have been with FDM Group for over a year and have since trained over 50 graduates who have then gone on to work with industry leading clients.

Highlights of UNSW

A highlight from my time at UNSW was attending various society social events and meeting new students. I particularly enjoyed the trivia nights hosted by MathSoc.

Advice for current students

The main piece of advice I would give is to be proactive and take advantage of resources the university offers. This can be done in a few ways such as:
• Attending networking events
• Participating in student societies
• Applying for internships
• Upskilling
• Seeking help from lecturers and tutors if needed
• Connecting with people in your industry on LinkedIn and politely ask if they can offer advice
• Staying up to date with the latest news
• Talking to the careers team if you need advice
It is also important that you maintain a work life balance, look after your mental and physical health, and make time for friends, family, and hobbies.
