Sonya Lifschitz - Above/Below

17 Jun 2020, 8:30pm - 9:30pm

Music Performance Unit UNSW and UNSW Hospitality are thrilled to welcome Melbourne Digital Concert Hall (MDCH) to UNSW’s Kensington campus next month, bringing music to the community.

Above/Below will feature FASS lecturer Sonya Lifschitz and the performance is a meditation on the cosmic mechanics of time and the eternal recurrence of earthly life cycles. Juxtaposing the mystical symbolism of George Crumb’s Makrokosmos with the pastoral lyricism of Tchaikovsky’s Seasons, the music weaves a beguiling sonic journey through the houses of the Zodiac (Crumb), paired with their corresponding calendar months (Tchaikovsky).
