Higher Degree Research (HDR) Student Representatives

The School of Public Health and Community Medicine (SPHCM) HDR Student Representative is a voluntary position. 3 HDR student representative positions are available. The objectives of the positions are to provide feedback to the program directors regarding issues affecting HDR students at the School.


  • Social Engagement Student Representative- Representing students in relation to work health and safety (WHS) matters and attending the level 3 WHS Committee at the School and initiate social engagement/activities
  • Executive Committee Student Representative- Representing the HDR student body on the School Executive committee and School Board Meetings
  • Student Representative Seminar Coordinator- Representative coordinating the weekly seminar series

The student representatives must be enrolled in a research program offered at the School of Public Health & Community Medicine and commit to a minimum 2 year term.

WHS consultation course training (2 day course). WHS 2 day consultation course run by UNSW- required to participate as WHS representative. Covered will be- WHS Legislation in NSW; The WHS Committee Structure at UNSW; Your role on the committee; Practical tools to manage safety at UNSW.


  • 2 years , 1 Jan 2019- 31 Dec 2020
  • Approx 1-2 hr per week
